In 1971, Jack met Richie Havens, who introduced him to the music business, cut one his songs and helped Jack get his first single song contract. After meeting The Who at their tour stop in Atlanta, Roger Daltrey signed Jack to The Who’s publishing company, William Tell Music. During this time, he met Ken Hensley (then of Uriah Heep) who invited him to England and later signed him to his publishing company “Umble Tunes,” where Jack had six songs recorded by Uriah Heep and one by the southern rock band Blackfoot. In 1985 Jack moved to Nashville where he wrote “Seasons” and “Everybody Wins” recorded by The Oak Ridge Boys, and the song “Just Before the Bullets Fly” with Warren Haynes, which was recorded by Gregg Allman,& blues legend Son Seals, and was featured in the film Renegades. In 1991, Jack left Nashville & moved to Seattle Washington & then moved to St. Augustine Florida to raise his family before deciding to return to Nashville in 2005 where he worked as the In-House Chef at Sound Kitchen Studios. In October 2006 “Without You”, a song Jack wrote with Don Poythress was cut by Lance Miller (Warner Bros). In February 2007, Kristina Cornell (Lofton Creek) recorded “Whenever it Rains” which she co-wrote with Jack and Dave Gibson. Stephanie Urbina Jones on Equity Records cut a song that she and Mark Marchetti wrote with Jack called “When You Run Out Of Road”. Indi country artist Tommy Steele came to Nashville in 2009 and recorded his new cd with Jack co-producing and delivering 10 songs for the cd. Tommy's last single was a song that Jack and Jeff Bates wrote called “Forever 17” and climbed to #54 on the Music Row breakout charts and has just released a new single that Jack and Trent Summar wrote called “What kind of Man”. Currently British rock band Two Choices is now in the process of releasing their single in the UK and America which Jack wrote with Travis Meadows called “My side of the street”. |
